Fake followers
Followers that are bots, bought, inactive or part of engagement pods. Fake followers inflate a creator's size without adding anyone who will see or act on a post. They leave signals: engagement far below the tier benchmark, growth spikes, audiences in unexpected countries.
Why it matters
Paying for a 200K account with a 40% fake audience is paying double. Audits of large samples find a third or more of followers on some platforms show inauthentic signals.
